Class 4 - Autumn term 2025
Welcome to Class 4 page!
In our wonderful classroom this year the staff will be:
Teacher - Mrs Chatburn
Teaching Assistant - Mrs Greaves.
You can contact Mrs Chatburn via ClassDojo, or through the office.
PE this half term is invasion games - handballl, which is on a Wednesday, and dance on a Friday. PE kit needs to be in school on Monday for the week.
Reading
We encourage your child to read for a minimum of 20 minutes, 4 nights a week. It is a good idea to encourage your child to read independently in order to develop a love of reading, but it is also still good for you to read to your child. Children have chosen books from our class library and they are able to take these books home, so long as they are returned to school. We will regularly discuss the books the children are reading – and the books we are reading ourselves. Guided Reading sessions take place in Class 4 four times weekly, and we will ensure children have access to a huge range of texts across the academic year.
Spellings
The children will have statutory spellings to practise. Time will also be allocated in class for spelling practise. Whilst some spelling tests will take place, we will generally practice spelling words in context and using the words to gain a better understanding of their meaning and spelling pattern.
Timestables
On TT Rockstars weekly timetable challenges are set on a Monday to be completed by Friday.
RE In Class 4, we take great pride in our child-led worship sessions. Each week, children collaborate in groups to plan and lead a worship experience for the class. Their responsibilities include selecting a Bible reading aligned with our weekly mission, leading prayers, and guiding reflections on the past week. This initiative fosters a sense of ownership and spiritual growth among the children, allowing them to actively contribute to our collective worship.
